20th April Here's the cover for Ch6 to prove I'm alive and working. I've got a small buffer, but I want to build it up a bit more before starting to update pages again, especially as its exam season now. So the chapter will start properly the week after next :)

6th April Right, that was a shamefully long hiatus. Finishing the script for Chapter Six was really quite tricky, as was deciding what format I'm going to continue in. One the plus side, I'm now really eager to get drawing pages again! (usually by the end of a chapter I'm getting a bit fed up with it.)

At the moment I'm working on building up a buffer - I want to have a really decent sized one this time. I'll start updating Ch6 once I've got enough pages drawn. Here's proof that I am actually doing stuff:

In terms of to colour or not to colour, I've decided to return to sepia. The main problem is that when I'm drawing, I skimp on the details/effort, thinking 'oh, I'll just make it better when I colour it', which of course doesn't work! I'm still going to make some (minor) changes, so I don't get bored of the same format:

• Shorter chapters, thus with more (coloured) chapter covers.
• Variable page lengths, rather than always being 800px. I absolutely adore really long comic pages, so I might do those sometimes, or sometimes shorter ones, depending on how the story divides up. It'll also mean less odd-looking borders when my drawings don't quite meet the right aspect ratio.
• Not always using the same background texture. It can then be lighter/darker depending on the scene. I'll probably do away with the extra 'shading' layer too, for speed of processing, and also to prevent the 'I'll fix it on the computer' thinking!
• Not trying to mimic ink with pencils, and just use them like pencils, because I'm unlikely to go back to messing about with inking lines again.
